Gettorf – The amplifier unit SS 400 Ex, designed for ambient temperatures ranging from -20 to +60 °C, serves to evaluate data collected by EGE flow controllers in areas with gas and dust explosion hazards. It is classified as category 2 equipment and can be installed and operated in zones 1 or 21, providing Ex-protection according to II 2D T92 °C IP65 and II (1) 2G EEx em [ia] IIC T6. Besides flow sensors for fluids, airflow controllers – e.g. for monitoring exhaust systems – can be connected to the amplifier as well. An integrated LED chain enables on-site calibration of the flow limit. The unit's relay output can be operated either with “intrinsic safety" or with "increased safety" type protection, thereby allowing for the switching of an ATEX-approved device in zone 1 or 21. Alternatively, the switching signal can be routed to a control cabinet outside of the hazardous area. The unit is supplied with 24 V DC via robust PVC feed lines. EGE's GKE and GKI lines of ATEX-approved housings for screw terminals enable wiring and cable extensions.
